SUPERIOR, Wisc.- UNW Men's Soccer traveled across the border to face off against Wisconsin-Superior on Saturday afternoon. The Yellowjackets entered the day with a 10-1 UMAC record which was tied for the best in the conference. Northwestern fell to the league leaders by a score of 4-1.
The Yellowjackets spread out their scoring, tallying two goals in each half. Trailing 2-0 at the halftime break, the tenacious Eagles tried to fight back into the game.
Isaac Friesen (Mora, Minn./Home School) scored his second goal of the season off of an assist from
Samuel Hendry (Spooner, Wis./Spooner High School). The goal brought the Eagles to within one goal of the Jackets, however, UNW would not be able to complete the comeback.
The home team would come away with two more goals in the second half to pull out the 4-1 victory over the Eagles.
Austin Gunkel (Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View) and
Aidan Lynch (Glendora, Calif./Western Christian) each had three saves for UNW.
The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday, October 27
th when they host the Bethany Lutheran College Vikings at Reynolds Field.
