Offensive Explosion Leads the Eagles Past the Rams and to a 7-1 Conference Record

ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Eagles scored early and often as they defeated the visiting North Central Rams 7-1 at Reynolds Field on Tuesday night. The win improved the Eagles' UMAC record to, fittingly, 7-1.

UNW was coming off of a win at home on Saturday against Northland, and kept that momentum rolling early on in this contest. Natalie Moeller (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan Christian) was the Eagle who got the scoring started in just the 7th minute of play. The Eagles attack forced a corner kick and Natalie Moeller (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan Christian) came up to take it, as she often does. Moeller made a shot that should popularize the phrase, "bend it like Moeller". The senior bent the shot from the corner kick into the net, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead. This was Moeller's second goal of the season.

The scoring did not stop there. Another Moeller got into the action, Megan Moeller (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan Christian School) this time, in the 12th minute. Megan would add two more goals in the 27th and 65th minutes. This is Moeller's second hat trick of the season, and the third of her career. Moeller now has 13 goals to lead the Eagles. The sophomore is second in the UMAC in goals scored this fall.

Emily Currie (Minneapolis, Minn./Home School) had a goal, with the assist coming from Lauren Bosley (Blaine, Minn./Blaine), in the 32nd minute. This was Currie's third goal of the season. The Eagles took a 4-1 lead into halftime, and kept the pressure on in the second half.

Within a four minute stretch in the second half, the Eagles added two more goals. In the 55th minute, Kaylin Strike (Hanover, Minn./Buffalo) scored her second goal of the season with a beautiful chip shot over the goalie. In the 59th minute, Megan Kohrt (Monona, Wis./Homeschool) scored her second goal in as many games. The Eagles would win the game 7-1.

The Eagles put on a show on the offensive end, totaling 43 shots with 26 of them landing on net. The Eagles defense also played well, allowing only six shots with five of them being on target.

Reagan Flaschberger (Shoreview, Minn./Centennial) got her first start of the season in net, and made four saves.

The Eagles will be back at Reynolds Field on Friday, October 15th when they host Minnesota-Morris.
