Box Score WATERTOWN, Wis. – The University of Northwestern women's soccer team traveled down to Maranatha Baptist University for Tuesday afternoon action. The Eagles move to 2-2 on the season, defeating the Sabercats 4-3.
Coming together for the second time this season, UNW came ready to play right away. Twenty minutes into the first half, freshman
Megan Moeller (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan Christian School) would score the Eagles first goal of the day. Before the end of the half, defender
Taylor Brinkman (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) scored Northwestern's second goal off of a free kick at the 35-yard line.
The half ended 2-0. The Eagles finished the half outshooting the Sabercats 11-5.
Second half play began immediately as
Megan Moeller (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan Christian School) would score her second goal of the day off of a pass from
Maia Ellenburg (Winona, Minn./Winona) ten minutes into the half. Shortly after,
Danielle Roberts (Hastings, Minn./Hastings) would finish her shot off of a pass by
Megan Moeller (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan Christian School).
Maranatha would not give up as they scored three unanswered goals against the Eagles. Northwestern would hold on and again outshoot the Sabercats 22-13 for the game. UNW took six corners to Maranatha's one.
Megan Moeller (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan Christian School) led the way up top for the Eagles taking nine shots (five shots-on-goal).
Emily Currie (Minneapolis, Minn./Home School) would finish with four shots (two shots-on-goal).
UNW will travel to Viterbo University this Thursday to take on Viterbo University at 4 pm.
