The University of Northwestern Eagles continued play on Thursday in Fort Pierce, FL and they split with Norwich University. The Eagles won game one 7-1 before the Cadets won game two 3-1.
Game One
Northwestern scored five runs in the bottom of the second to take a lead that they would never relinquish. The inning opened as
Carter Michaelson (South St. Paul, Minn./South St. Paul) reached via an error and Northwestern capitalized in a big way.
Chad Wakabayashi (Waipahu, Hawaii/Hanalani) singled him home and then
Guerin Szafraniec (Brighton, Colo./Brighton), who later scored via a passed ball, hit a double to center to score Wakabayashi.
Wyatt Morrell (Elk River, Minn./Home School) drew a two-out bases empty walk before
Sam Peterson (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin) doubled him home.
Eric Peterson (Coon Valley, Wis./Westby) drove home

Norwich scored once in the top of the third to make it 5-1 before the Eagles added a sixth run in the fourth.
Caleb Piersma (Pella, Iowa/Pella) led off with a five-pitch walk before he stole second. He then scored when
Sam Peterson (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin) singled to left to continue his hot spring. The scoring concluded in the fifth as
Carter Michaelson (South St. Paul, Minn./South St. Paul) led off with a double to left before
Carlton Lindow (Cannon Falls, Minn./Cannon Falls) singled him home.
Sam Peterson (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin) and
Eric Peterson (Coon Valley, Wis./Westby) both had two hits and
Wyatt Morrell (Elk River, Minn./Home School) drew a walk and was hit by a pitch as they reached base multiple times.
Philip Wall (Juneau, Alaska/IDEA) threw seven strong innings on the mound as he gave up one earned run while scattering five hits and striking out five.
Game Two
Norwich scored two runs in the bottom of the second of game two before adding their third and final run in the bottom of the third. The Eagles struck back in the top of the fourth as
Holt Goodwin (Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) had a one-out single to left. Carter Micaelson then singled to center to make it first and second before Chad Wakabasyahi reached via an error to load the bases.
Guerin Szafraniec (Brighton, Colo./Brighton) walked to bring home Goowin and the Eagles were on the board, which concluded the scoring.
Eric Peterson (Coon Valley, Wis./Westby) had two hits and
Holt Goodwin (Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) and
Carter Michaelson (South St. Paul, Minn./South St. Paul) both had one as the Eagles recorded four hits in the game.
Bryce Crabb (Des Moines, Iowa/Grand View Christian) got the start for the Eagles as he gave up two earned runs in five innings of work. He scattered six hits and struck out two while walking two.
Max Barthel (Farmington, Minn./Farmington) pitched the sixth and allowed one walk in his inning of work.
