CONCORDIA, Minn. – The University of Northwestern women's soccer team took on Concordia Moorhead to open the start of the Cobber Invite for this weekend's tournament.
The Eagles came out hard, with lots of energy, looking to capitalize on the days endeavor. The Cobbers scored early on and kept up the intensity. Thirty minutes in,
Danielle Roberts (Hastings, Minn./Hastings) got her foot on the ball, to find the back of the net, on a pass from
Anna Welch (Lakeville, Minn./Homeschool) to tie the game. Shortly after the Eagles' goal,
Taylor Brinkman (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) took a free kick on net, firing a rocket of a shot that went right over the cross bar. From then on, play was even matched as no other goals were scored.
Second half started strong as the Eagles were ready to put up a fight and finish with grit. Half-way through, the Cobbers were able to sneak in two more goals to make the final score 3-1.
The Eagles will wrap up their weekend games tomorrow at 2 pm against Nebraska Wesleyan.
