ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern volleyball team will host its third-annual Kathryne Pals Legacy Invitational Friday and Saturday inside the Ericksen Center. The seven-team tournament will get underway at 3 p.m. Friday before concluding Saturday afternoon.
Kathryne Pals was a 2008 Northwestern Grad who made a huge impact on and off the court, playing for Head Coach
Beth Wilmeth. On July 31, 2016, the Pals family was traveling to their final training session in Colorado, prior to their long-term deployment to be global partners with Christ Bible Institute in Nagoya, Japan. They were rear-ended by a semi-truck and Jamison (29), Kathryne (29), Ezra (3), Violet (23 mos.), and Calvin (2 mos.) departed to be with Jesus Christ. Jamison had written on his blog,
"We want Jesus Christ for Japan. That's what 'the joy of Japan' really means." That vision hasn't died. Death hasn't won.
The Pals Family Foundation provides grants to those who bring the gospel to unreached and unengaged peoples. Through the clear legacy that Jamison and Kathryne left, they prayerfully and financially support missionaries across the globe who have the same passion and vision as the Pals. Recipients receive regular funding over a three-year term once they are on the field.
The UNW volleyball team has been waiting to announce their ACES FOR JOY campaign for the 2019 season. They are looking for 50 families/individuals who will commit to $1 for every ace the UNW team serves (cap of $200) throughout the 2019 season. All proceeds will go to the Pals Family Foundation which supports missionary families like Kathryne & Jamison and their three beautiful children. Head Coach
Beth Wilmeth states, "Kathryne has a powerful legacy in our program and we are so excited about the opportunity to make an eternal impact by the simple act of serving aces."
