DULUTH, Minn. – The University of Northwestern men's track and field team opened the 2019-20 Indoor Season at St. Scholastica on Saturday. With just a small roster of Eagles getting their first meet underway, Northwestern recorded four top-10 finishes. UNW competed against four other teams in Saturday action.

Junior
Tanner Smith (Backus, Minn./Pine River-Backus) ran his first ever 60m dash in Saturday action, recording an 11th place finish in preliminaries. Smith came in at 7.37 seconds.
Brent Reller (Melrose, Minn./Melrose Area), coming off a solid cross country showing this fall, competed in the 800m run. Reller recorded a sixth place finish, coming in at 2:23.84.
The sophomore duo of
Nathan Runck (Lamberton, Minn./Red Rock Central) and
Tristan Thompson (Spicer, Minn./New London-Spicer) put together strong performances in the one mile run. Runck recorded a second-place finish (4:54.40), while Thompson followed up in third place (5:00.61).
Jacob Drury (Becker, Minn./Becker) and
Qashr Middleton (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain) competed in field event action as Drury recorded a 1.6m high jump performance and Middleton added a 9.04m shot put final throw.
