ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern men's and women's cross country teams competed this past weekend in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Cross Country Championships in Superior, Wisconsin. A total of 32 student-athletes were recognized for their finishes in Superior, Wisconsin. Along with first team and second team awards, each team (men's and women's separate) had one representative named to the individual sportsmanship award list.
Freshman
Wes Donaldson (Eden Prairie, Minn./Homeschool) finished with 2019 UMAC Men's Cross Country All-Conference Second Team honors. Finishing 10
th on Saturday's meet with a time of 28:01.9 in the 8k race. Donaldson has paced the Eagles all season throughout their meets. His season and career best came on October 4 at the Blugold Invitational where he finished with a time of 26:53.1.
Sophomore, runner
Cameron Larson (Long Prairie, Minn./Long Prairie-Grey Eagle) was awarded the 2019 UMAC Men's Cross Country Sportsmanship Award on Saturday afternoon. Larson has been a strong presence on the Northwestern team, bringing in steady times each week. His collegiate best came this season on October 19 at the Kollege Town Sports Invitational with a time of 29:11.9.
On the women's side, sophomore
Karee Joedeman (Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield) was awarded the 2019 UMAC Women's Cross Country Sportsmanship Award. Joedeman's efforts this season have been noticed by all as she consistently performs for the Eagles. Her collegiate best came this season on October 4 at the Blugold Invitational where she finished with an exceptional 26 flat, 6k time.
The men's and women's teams will compete November 16 in Waverly, Iowa in the NCAA Central Regional Championships.
