Men's Hoops Downs Morris, 94-73 to Win Fifth Straight

MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Northwestern men's basketball team took on Minnesota Morris in Wednesday night Upper Midwest Athletic Conference action. The Eagles recorded their fifth straight win, downing the Cougars in a 94-73 final after outscoring Morris, 50-30 in the second half.
 
Following a competitive first half, Northwestern held just a one-point lead (44-43). The Eagles went down by six early in the second half, but quickly changed the course of the game.
 
Northwestern went on a quick 10-0 run to take a 66-61 lead with 11:30 remaining, and never looked back. The Eagles outscored Morris, 28 to 12 in the final 10 minutes.
 
It was another balanced scoring effort from UNW as five players finished with double figures. Brady Bellefeuille (Frazee, Minn./Frazee) led the way with a career-best 21 points.
 
Caleb Hageman (Charles City, Iowa/Charles City) added 18 points on the night, while Michael Moore (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg) recorded 15 points after knocking down three shots from long range.
 
Tanner Youngberg (Pocahontas, Iowa/Pocahontas Area) tacked on 14 points and pulled down a career-best, 18 rebounds – his ninth double-double this season. Hageman and Youngberg each dished out seven assists on the night. Anderson Bazile Jr. (Houston, Tex./San Antonio Reagan) tacked on 13 points.
 
UNW moves to 11-6 on the year and holds a 7-1 mark in the Upper Midwest Conference to tie for first place with Bethany Lutheran. Morris falls to 6-10 overall, 4-4 in conference play.
 
The Eagles will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 19 when they take on North Central University in Minneapolis. Tipoff is slated for 4:45 p.m. against the Rams.
