Women’s Soccer Ends in A Draw

DULUTH, MINN. – The University of Northwestern women's soccer team traveled north to take on the conference-leading St. Scholastica Saints (4-3-2, 4-0-1 UMAC). The match went to double overtime, and ended in a 0-0 draw. With the draw, Northwestern moves to 3-4-3 overall and 3-1-1 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play.
 
In the first half of play, the Saints outshot the Eagles 8-2 but neither team was able to net a goal. Goalkeeper Samantha Colombo (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors) recorded six saves in the period, as the score was 0-0 entering the break.
 
Roles reversed in the second half, with UNW outshooting the Saints 5-2. Both defenses held strong though, with a scoreless 90 minutes of play. In both overtime periods UNW was outshot, but the Eagle defense did not break down.
 
Defensively, Colombo tallied nine saves on the contest. Junior Linley Norman (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake) led the Eagle offense with two shots and two shots on goal.
