ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern women's soccer team is resting at third place in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) standings and with the win tonight, they move to (4-4-3) overall and (4-1-1) in UMAC play. The Eagles hosted conference opponent Bethany Lutheran Vikings (5-6-0, 2-4-0 UMAC) in a Tuesday evening contest.
In the first half of action, the Eagles were on the attack. Putting up seven shots towards the Viking defense, UNW was unable to find the back of the net until the final minute of play. Senior forward
Emily Michaelson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) was able to net a goal with 12 seconds left in the period, giving Northwestern the 1-0 lead entering intermission.
The offense continued in the second half, as the Eagles added 13 more shots. Junior forward
Linley Norman (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake) tally two more goals, securing the 3-0 victory for Northwestern. Norman leads the Eagles with six goals on the season.
