Eagles Drop Home Opener to Snelling Rival

ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern women's soccer team (0-1, 0-0 UMAC) opened up their season Friday evening hosting Snelling Avenue rival, Bethel University (1-0, 0-0 MIAC). The Eagles start the season falling to 0-1, losing by a final score of 3-0.

Bethel held command of the first half, scoring two unanswered goals midway through the first frame. The Royals held the 2-0 lead going into intermission, with the Eagle offense struggling to get shots-on-goal.

The Eagles defense picked up in the second half, holding the Royals scoreless until the final minute of play when Bethel scored on a break-away goal. Sophomore, Emily Currie (Minneapolis, Minn./Homeschool) tried getting on the board, firing two shots at the Bethel defense.
