UNW Advances To UMAC Final With Win Over UWS

ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern men's tennis team was victorious in their UMAC semi-final matchup at Johnson Courts Wednesday evening, defeating UW-Superior by a 8-1 score.  The win puts the Eagles into the UMAC Final on Saturday.

UNW came out hot early on in doubles action, taking all three matches quite convincingly.  The duo of CJ Lloyd (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) and Landon Ridpath (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) went unblemished in their win (8-0) and the tandem of Joshua Kimball (Waseca, Minn./Waseca) and Davis Pfaff (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove ) were also very efficient in their victory (8-1).

The Eagles continued their stellar play in the singles matches later on, taking five of the six matches played.  At the one and two positions Lloyd (6-1, 6-1) and Ridpath (6-0, 6-2) each dropped just two total games and Cameron Fair (Sterling, Kan./Sterling) was also very dominant in his win (6-1, 6-2).

Northwestern will head up to Duluth on Saturday for the UMAC Title matchup against St. Scholastica, taking place at 1 p.m.  Fans be sure to head to unweagles.com and follow @UNWTennis on Twitter to keep up to date on the team.
