ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern men's tennis team was victorious in their UMAC semi-final matchup at Johnson Courts Wednesday evening, defeating UW-Superior by a 8-1 score. The win puts the Eagles into the UMAC Final on Saturday.
UNW came out hot early on in doubles action, taking all three matches quite convincingly. The duo of
CJ Lloyd (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) and
Landon Ridpath (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) went unblemished in their win (8-0) and the tandem of
Joshua Kimball (Waseca, Minn./Waseca) and
Davis Pfaff (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove ) were also very efficient in their victory (8-1).
The Eagles continued their stellar play in the singles matches later on, taking five of the six matches played. At the one and two positions Lloyd (6-1, 6-1) and Ridpath (6-0, 6-2) each dropped just two total games and
Cameron Fair (Sterling, Kan./Sterling) was also very dominant in his win (6-1, 6-2).
