ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern women's tennis team defeated UW Superior in their UMAC semi-final match up Monday evening by a score of 8-1. The Eagles now move to 14-10 on the season.
UNW started off the evening with some very solid doubles play, winning all three matches. They dropped a total of just five games in the three matches played. The one team of
Brooke Lapinski (Chanhassen, Minn./Chanhassen) and
Nikki Paskewitz (Staples, Minn./Staples-Motley) were especially dominate, winning 8-0.
The Eagles continued their dominate play in the singles portion, winning five of six matches.
Emily Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) (#3 position) and
Jessica Gross (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) (#6 position) were especially impressive, only dropping four games each in their straight sets wins.
