Eagles Secure Victory in First Match of the Season at Johnson Courts

ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern men's tennis team picked up a victory in their season opening match at Johnson Courts Tuesday evening, beating UW-Superior 7-2.  The win moves the Eagles to 7-9 on the season.

UNW played very well in doubles action to open up the evening, taking all three matches convincingly.  The team of Cameron Fair (Sterling, Kan./Sterling) and Spencer Deveau (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) were especially impressive, winning 8-0 at the third position.

Northwestern continued the solid play in the singles portion later on, taking four of the six matches played.  At the one position CJ Lloyd (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) won handily (6-2, 6-1) and at the four position Fair also posted (6-0, 6-1) a very dominating win.

The Eagles will head on the road tomorrow for a match up with Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato.  Fans can head to unweagles.com to find more information on the team.
