ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern men's tennis team picked up a victory in their season opening match at Johnson Courts Tuesday evening, beating UW-Superior 7-2. The win moves the Eagles to 7-9 on the season.
UNW played very well in doubles action to open up the evening, taking all three matches convincingly. The team of
Cameron Fair (Sterling, Kan./Sterling) and
Spencer Deveau (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) were especially impressive, winning 8-0 at the third position.
Northwestern continued the solid play in the singles portion later on, taking four of the six matches played. At the one position
CJ Lloyd (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) won handily (6-2, 6-1) and at the four position Fair also posted (6-0, 6-1) a very dominating win.
The Eagles will head on the road tomorrow for a match up with Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. Fans can head to unweagles.com to find more information on the team.
