ST. PETER, MINN. – The University of Northwestern men's tennis team had a tough Saturday in St. Peter, falling to both Concordia-Moorhead and Gustavus Adolphus. The losses move the team to 3-4 on the season.
CC 8, UNW 1
In the first portion of the first match of the day, the Eagles were unable to stick with the Cobbers as they fell in all three doubles matches. The Eagles doubles teams took three games in each of the matches.
Northwestern pushed Concordia a little more in singles action, but came away with just one match. At the six singles position
Davis Pfaff (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove ) won in straight sets (6-4, 7-5), while
Landon Ridpath (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) competed well at the second position in taking a set in his defeat.
GAC 9, UNW 0
UNW was competitive in the doubles play to start off the match, but they were unable to come up with a victory.
CJ Lloyd (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) and Ridpath were very competitive at first position, losing in a tiebreak, and
Joshua Kimball (Waseca, Minn./Waseca) and
Cameron Fair (Sterling, Kan./Sterling) also competed well in their loss at the second position (6-8).
The Eagles had a tough time in the singles play, unable to take a set in any of the matches. At the third position Kimball was able to take six games in his match.
