BLOOMINGTON, MINN. – The University of Northwestern women's tennis team pulled out a tight win Saturday afternoon, defeating Wartburg College by a score of 5-4 on Saturday afternoon. The victory moves the Eagles to 2-3 on the season.
UNW 5, WC 4
The Eagles got the afternoon started with a couple of wins in doubles action.
Brooke Lapinski (Chanhassen, Minn./Chanhassen) and
Nikki Paskewitz (Staples, Minn./Staples-Motley) had a very convincing win (8-2) at the first doubles position and
Gracie LeBrun (Pine City, Minn./Pine City) and
Mafee Rinta (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) pulled out a tight victory (9-7) at the third doubles position.
Northwestern got just enough wins on the singles side to come away with the match victory, as they took three of the six singles matches. Lapinski, Paskewitz, and Lebrun (first, second, and fifth positions) all were comfortable in their victories.
UNW will take the trip to St. Peter one week from today, with matches against Concordia-Moorhead and Gustavus Adolphus. Fans can head to unweagles.com to find more information on the team.
