UNW Gets First Win of the Season in Convincing Fashion

RIPON, Wis. – The University of Northwestern women's tennis team picked up their first win of the season Saturday, defeating Ripon College by a score of 9-0.  The win moves the team's record to 1-3 on the season.

UNW 9, RC 0

Northwestern started off the day with some very dominate wins on the doubles side of play.  The first doubles team of Nikki Paskewitz (Staples, Minn./Staples-Motley) and Emily Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) were very convincing in victory, winning 8-1.

The Eagles success continued into the singles portion of play, as they dropped a total of just seven games in the four matches played (two matches resulted in forfeits).  Two Eagles players played perfect matches, as Brooke Lapinski (Chanhassen, Minn./Chanhassen) at the one position and Bridget Zappe () at the four position, both won their contests by a 6-0, 6-0 score.

UNW will be back in action next Saturday in Bloomington, with matches against Wartburg College and Edgewood College.  Fans can head to unweagles.com and follow @UNWTennis on Twitter to find more information on the team.
