UNW Falls To St. Olaf Saturday

OWATONNA, MINN. – The University of Northwestern men's tennis team fell short to the St. Olaf Oles, by a score of 8-1 on Saturday afternoon.  The defeat moves the team to 0-2 early on this season.

St. Olaf 8, UNW 1

The Eagles started the day off with some very competitive play in doubles action, even coming away with a win.  At the second doubles position the Eagles pair of Joshua Kimball (Waseca, Minn./Waseca) and Cameron Fair (Sterling, Kan./Sterling) pulled out a tight victory by a score of 9-8 (7-2).

Northwestern was very competitive in some of the singles spots, but they were unable to come up with any victories.  CJ Lloyd (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) and Landon Ridpath (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) both played very tight matches, taking 8 and 9 games each, respectively.

UNW will return to the courts one week from today, facing off against Simpson College and Ripon College in Ripon, Wisconsin on Feb. 17.  Fans can head to unweagles.com to find more information on the team.
