DULUTH, MINN. – The University of Northwestern women's track and field team opened up its 2018-19 indoor season at the College of St. Scholastica Indoor Opener Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles 2018-19 team showcased several rookie runners who performed well at St. Scholastica's Burns Wellness Commons. Freshmen
Anne Mills (Great Bend, Kan./Great Bend) and
Victoria Giblin (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee) posted ninth and tenth place finishes, respectively in the 400-meter sprint. Mills came in at 1:09.13 and Giblin posted a 1:13.44 finish.
Coming off a successful rookie cross country season, freshman
Alicia Dennis (Burnsville, Minn./Homeschool) ran to a seventh place finish in the 800-meter run. Dennis crossed the line in 2:39.93.
Junior
Chloe Gault-Pruitt (Winchester, Calif./Temecula) recorded a personal-record 4.25m long jump to come in 20
th out of a large pool of competitors. Freshman
Peyton Wright (Littleton, Colo./Parker) and
Lydia Shoemaker (Good Thunder, Minn.) followed suit, in 21
st and 22
nd places, respectively.
Throwers
Danielle Conklin () and
Hannah Gatton (Breezy Point, Minn./Homeschool) also made their mark in the season opener. Conklin posted a 12
th place finish in the shot put, while Gatton threw 9.89m in the weight throw for an 11
th place mark (a new personal record).
The squad will compete next at the Warren Bowlus Open on Saturday, January 26, in Menomonie, Wis. Competition in set to get underway at 12 p.m. For more information, fans should visit www.unweagles.com.
