ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The University of Northwestern women's basketball team took on neighboring Bethel University in Saturday afternoon non-conference action. The Eagles fell to the Royals who rode out a dominant first half propelled by 83% shooting from three-point range. Northwestern dropped the contest 72-45 in final scoring.
The Royals held the Eagles to just 15 points in the first half, but Northwestern returned from intermission with fire. They held Bethel scoreless for the first two minutes of action and turned up the offensive efforts, shooting 48% from the field and 67% from three-point range in the second half.
Freshman guard
Kelsea Lund (Madison, Minn./La qui Parle Valley) led the shooting efforts, connecting on five of six shots from beyond the arc to finish with 16 points. Senior
Amy Berglund (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) added 13 points and a team-best four steals.
Northwestern will return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 5 when they welcome Bethany Lutheran to the Ericksen Center for the UMAC conference opener. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m., followed by men's action.
