ST. PETER, Minn. – The University of Northwestern men's tennis team capped off fall play as they competed at the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College last weekend. In just their third year competing at the ITA, the Eagles made impressive progress against top-level competition.

In singles play, senior Landon Ridpath (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) advanced to the Round of 16 in the singles main draw – the furthest a UNW men's player has advanced in ITA play. Ridpath defeated Jordan Schenck from St. Thomas (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) and advanced to take down Saint Mary's University's Bobby Tiedemann in another three-setter (6-1, 5-7, 6-0). Staying on trend, Landon defeated UW-La Crosse junior, Tony Moore in another battle (3-6, 7-5, 7-5).  Ridpath fell to a strong Gustavus player in the fourth round to end his tournament run.
 
Also making a run in singles play was freshman Austin Bricker (Arroyo Grande, Calif./Arroyo Grand), who won his first two matches in the B Draw for an impressive start to his rookie season.
 
 The doubles duo of Ridpath and sophomore Davis Pfaff (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) advanced to the fourth round of B Draw Doubles, before falling to a talented Carlton team.
 
Head Coach Matt Swigart recapped the weekend stating, "Overall it was a strong showing for UNW as we've never had a man win a round in the main draw in the 3 other years we've competed. Outside of Landon I'm very pleased with the growth of our team in our three weeks of fall tennis. We grew as individual players and as a team with a strong culture and care for one another. I'm very excited for January to get here and start our main season!"
