ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern women's soccer team hosted Northland College in a Wednesday afternoon matchup, for a chance to advance to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament Championship game. This was the third meeting between the Lumberjills and the Eagles, with UNW winning the first two contests.
Northwestern got the scoring going forty seconds into the game from an
Alexis Albrecht (Fargo, N.D./Sheyenne) corner kick, which bounced off of the head of a Northland player before finding the back of the net. The scoring did not stop there, as the Eagles would go on to score four more unanswered goals. Northwestern held a 5-0 lead entering halftime.
Northwestern kept on the gas pedal in the second half, with
Emily Daubenmier (Kijabe, KE./Rift Valley Academy) starting the half off with another goal forty-four seconds into play. The Eagles would go on to add two more goals in the frame, and
Anna Welch (Lakeville, Minn./Homeschool) would record a hat trick on the game. The Lumberjills were unable to net a goal in the match, as the Eagles secure the 8-0 victory.
