Men’s Soccer Falls in Heartbreaking OT Loss on Senior Day

ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern men's soccer team honored senior, Josh Robertson in their final home contest of the season. The Eagles hosted North Central (7-7-2, 4-7-2 UMAC), and lost by a final score of 3-2. With the loss, UNW finishes their season at 4-14-1 overall and 2-9-1 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play.

The first half was an even battle for the majority of the period. The Eagles outshot the Rams 11-8, but the Rams were able to net a goal with 10 minutes remaining. Northwestern was unable to answer, and would trail 1-0 entering the break.

Both teams started to click in the second half of play. The Eagles were able to even the match with a goal from Grecia Burns-Cadotte (Minneapolis, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's) off of a Tyler Hurley (Bloomington, Minn./Eden Prairie) corner kick. The tie was short-lived, as North Central would take the lead back less than five minutes later. The Eagles would not give up, however, scoring the game-tying goal. Taylor Modaff (Monticello, Minn./Monticello) would score from a Joshua Robertson (Excelsior, Minn./Southwest Christian) assist, and the game would head into overtime.

The overtime period was short lived, with North Central scoring the game-winning goal three minutes into the period.
