ST. BONIFACIUS, MINN. – The University of Northwestern women's soccer team made the trip to take on Crown College (4-12-0, 2-9-0 UMAC) in a Wednesday evening contest. The Eagles took down the Storm by a final score of 3-1. With the win, UNW improves to 8-6-4 overall and 8-2-1 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play.
The Eagles started the game hot, scoring two goals within the first twenty minutes of play.
Emily Daubenmier (Kijabe, KE./Rift Valley Academy) got Northwestern on the board, scoring the first goal of the contest off a
Linley Norman (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake) assist. Junior
Emily Currie (Minneapolis, Minn./Homeschool) was next to score for the Eagles. The Storm was able to answer with a goal of their own shortly after. The Eagles would net one more goal before halftime, from
Danielle Roberts (Hastings, Minn./Hastings).
The second half of played slowed down in the scoring category. Northwestern would out shoot Crown 26-3 in the period, but were not able to score another goal. The defense would stand strong, keeping Crown out of the goal.
The Eagles will close their regular season, hosting North Central on Saturday, October 27 before beginning postseason play. For more information, fans can visit
