ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern women's soccer team hosted the Yellowjackets of UW-Superior (4-10-1, 4-5-0 UMAC) in a Tuesday night contest. Northwestern grabbed the win by a final score of 4-0. With the win, UNW moves to 6-5-4 overall and 6-2-1 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play.
Much of the first half was dominated by the Eagles, as they outshot the Yellowjackets 14-0. Sophomore
Anna Welch (Lakeville, Minn./Homeschool) got the Eagles on the board, scoring the lone goal in the first half. Northwestern had the 1-0 lead entering intermission.
The Northwestern offense exploded in the second half. They were able to add 14 more shots, and added three more goals. Sophomore
Danielle Roberts (Hastings, Minn./Hastings) started off the second half scoring, off of Emily Daubenmire and
Emily Currie (Minneapolis, Minn./Homeschool) assists. Senior
Emily Michaelson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) kept the scoring going with help from
Linley Norman (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake). Less than a minute later, Welch nets her second goal from another assist from Norman.
