SARTELL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern men's tennis team dropped its opening match of the year Saturday afternoon, falling to Saint John's University, 9-0.

The Eagles fought hard in doubles action but came up short across the board.
Spencer Deveau (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) and
Davis Pfaff (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove ) were competitive at the third doubles position, taking 4 games in defeat.
UNW battled throughout the singles play but were unable to come up with any victory.
Landon Ridpath (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) played a very tight match while taking a set in defeat (6-2, 6-7, 4-10) and Deveau came very close to picking up a set in his match (0-6, 5-7).
