ST. PAUL, MINN – The University of Northwestern women's soccer team [3-5-1, 3-0-1 UMAC] battled the University of Jamestown [6-3-1] Monday afternoon at Reynolds Field. The Eagles came up short, as the hard-fought contest was won, 1-0, by the visiting Jimmies.
The first 45-minute frame was well-contested, as both teams defended their cages to keep the score leveled 0-0 at the halftime break.
Samantha Dewey (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors) guarded the net with her best efforts, as the junior goalkeeper recorded an impressive nine saves on the first period.
As the second-half action took off, Jamestown managed to knock one in at the 64' mark to take a 1-0 lead. Northwestern continued in their strong fight, but were unable to find the net, allowing the Jimmies to secure a 1-0 win on the day's competition.
UNW finished the contest with nine shots [6 SOG], while UJ noted 31 shots [20 SOG].

Anna Welch (Lakeville, Minn./Homeschool) [2S / 1 SOG].
On the defensive end, Dewey's outstanding performance made for a career-high night, as she totaled 19 saves [0.950 %] on the game.
