No. 12 Eagles Remain Perfect in UMAC

MANKATO, Minn. – The No. 12 University of Northwestern volleyball team stayed perfect in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play with a pair of sweeps over the College of St. Scholastica and Bethany Lutheran College in a conference triangular.

UNW 3, CSS 0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-12)
The Eagles used a strong attack at the net – compiling an impressive .418 hitting percentage – to take down the Saints. Lindsey Peterson (Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork) and Jenay Fuglestad (Maple Grove, Minn./Heritage Christian) both reached double-digit kill totals, as Peterson slammed 11 and Fuglestad 10. Kaelyn Kilbo (Delano, Minn./Delano) jumpstarted the offense, racking up 21 assists.

Defensively, Peterson logged 10 digs to complete a double-double and Kayla Tanner (Anoka, Minn./Anoka) recorded three stuffs in the middle. As a team, UNW posted six blocks to CSS's three.

UNW 3, BLC (25-19, 25-23, 25-21)
Northwestern hit .317 in the first set and never looked back, sweeping the host Vikings. It was Lindsey Peterson (Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork) again leading the offensive surge with her match-high 17 kills to go along with 12 digs. Mariah Halvorsen (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) contributed eight kills, while Carley Lynch (Braham, Minn./Braham) had a pair of service aces.

Leesa Malone (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) had a strong all-around match, as the senior had four blocks to lead all players, while also tallying 21 assists. Abby Neuberger (Chanhassen, Minn./Southwest Christian) stepped up in the backrow, notching 17 digs.
