UNW Earns Dominant Win Over NCU

ST. PAUL, MINN – The University of Northwestern women's soccer team secured a dominant 8-0 win over North Central University (3-3 overall, 0-2 UMAC) Saturday afternoon at Reynolds Field. With the victory, the Eagles improve to 2-4 on the season, and remain unbeaten (2-0) in league play.

Thanks to four goals scored by four different players – Anna Hitterdal (St. Louis Park, Minn./Southwest Christian), Anna Welch (Lakeville, Minn./Homeschool), Megan Larsen (Appleton, Wis./Appleton East), and Linley Norman (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake) – UNW took a 4-0 lead into the locker room at the halftime break.

As the second period took off, a trio of Eagles netted four more goals on the contest to help secure an 8-0 victory over the visiting Rams.

Welch made quite the impression on the mid-day match, as the freshman forward led the pack with six shots (5 SOG) and scored for the first time in her collegiate career, logging three goals for the purple and gold. Norman also had a strong showing, as she tallied six shots (2 SOG), one goal, and one assist.

Freshman Heather Miller (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South) made her mark on the game, as she tabbed her first-ever collegiate goal, respectively.

Concluding the afternoon battle, UNW recorded a season-high 36 shots (25 SOG).

The team will continue conference play next week with contests at the University of Minnesota Morris and Crown College. Fans can find more information on the women's program at www.unweagles.com or by following @unwwsoc on Twitter.
