WHITEWATER, WIS. - The University of Northwestern women's tennis team [24-7 overall] had its record-breaking season come to an end Thursday morning, as the Eagles fell to the No. 27-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater [20-7] 5-0 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

UWW - who made it's 10th-straight NCAA Tournament bid - started the morning strong as they tallied wins on all three doubles matches [7-2, 8-1, 8-1] over UNW. Then, the home team went on to grab two more victories in doubles to overtake the Eagles 5-0.
At No. 1 doubles,
Karen Moe (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South ) and
Nikki Edin (Staples, Minn./Staples-Motley) challenged their opponents, grabbing two sets [2-8].
Brooke Lapinski (Chanhassen, Minn./Chanhassen) and Rachel Lakurila were defeated 8-1 at No. 2, as were
Emily Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) and
Gracie LeBrun (Pine City, Minn./Pine City ), respectively.
The squad will say it's final farewell to Moe, Northwestern's all-time winningest player in program history, who finished her career with a 103-8 record in singles and 90-27 record in doubles [193-35 combined]. The purple and gold will also say goodbye to Senior
Tina Matetich (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing), who surpassed 100 wins throughout her college career.
