ST. PAUL – The University of Northwestern women's tennis team (21-5) cruised to an early morning sweep of Martin Luther College Saturday before falling to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (13-6-1), 7-2, in the day's second match.

Karen Moe (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South ) (No. 1),
Nikki Edin (Staples, Minn./Staples-Motley) (No. 3) and
Emily Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) (No. 4) all won in straight sets, as the Eagles dominated the visiting Knights.
UNW jumped out to a 3-0 lead through doubles play to take command early.
Brooke Lapinski (Chanhassen, Minn./Chanhassen) and Rachel Lukkarilla downed their opponents 8-0, while Karen
Moe and
Nikki Edin (Staples, Minn./Staples-Motley) (No. 1) and
Emily Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) and Gracie Lebrun (No. 3) earned 8-3 victories.

Karen Moe (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South ) at No. 1 singles and Moe and partner
Nikki Edin (Staples, Minn./Staples-Motley) at No. 1 doubles picked up the pair of wins for UNW as the BluGolds were too much for the Eagles.
Moe kept her unbeaten streak at No. 1 singles with an exhilarating win, as Moe took the tiebreaker 10-3 to keep her record unblemished.
Brooke Lapinski (Chanhassen, Minn./Chanhassen) battled at No. 2 singles, as the junior dropped the tiebreaker in her match. Moe and Edin were 9-7 winner at No. 1 doubles for the Eagles.
