ST. PAUL – On an absolutely perfect April day, the University of Northwestern men's tennis team earned a split, defeating Martin Luther College (7-2) before dropping the nightcap to the University of St. Thomas, 8-1.
UNW 7, MLC 2
Landon Ridpath (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech ) (No. 2) and
Joshua Kimball (Waseca, Minn./Waseca) (No. 3) both cruised their way to straight set wins, while
CJ Lloyd (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) (No. 1) and
Cameron Fair (Sterling, Kan./Sterling) (No. 5) also picked up victories in singles play. Lloyd was a 6-2, 6-1 winner, while Fair downed his opponent 6-3, 6-2.
The Eagles built a comfortable lead out of the gates, as all three doubles teams paired up to pick up triumphs to give UNW a 3-0 advantage.

The Tommies showed why they are 12-1 on the season, as they earned an 8-1 win over the Eagles.
UNW earned its lone point in singles play, as
Joshua Kimball (Waseca, Minn./Waseca) notched a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
CJ Lloyd (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) battled at No 1 singles, but fell 6-2, 6-4.
In doubles play,
Sam Bostrom (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) and
Turner Main (Kewaunee, Wis./Kewaunee) challenged their opponents, taking them to a tiebreaker, but came up short, 7-2, in the tiebreaker.
