WAVERLY, IOWA – In a mid-week road battle, the University of Northwestern dropped a 16-6 decision to Wartburg College [6-7 overall] Tuesday afternoon. Due to the deficit, the Eagles now move to 10-3 on the season.
In a dominant offense effort, Wartburg paced the first 30:00 frame, knocking in 10 goals on the half to take a 10-3 advantage into the halftime break. The high-intensity from the home team trickled over into the second period, as the Knights knocked in another six more goals to the Eagles two, to seal a 16-6 win over Northwestern.
Freshman attacker
Annie Ellis (Farmington, Minn./Farmington) led the squad in goals on the contest, burying three, while also finishing 1-for-3 on free position attempts. Sophomore midfielder
Jordyn Broberg (Mahtomedi, Minn./Montomedi) also had a strong showing on the game, tallying two goals for the Eagles, while Freshman attacker
Talia Sherry (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) added one, respectively.
As a team, the Eagles concluded the contest with a grand total 26 shots, 15 shots on goal, 10 ground balls, and won five draw controls.
