DALLAS, TEXAS – The University of Northwestern women's lacrosse team locked down a 19-11 victory over the University of Dallas [1-5 overall] Wednesday afternoon to close out their Texas spring break trip. With the win, the Eagles advance to a new program-best record of 4-1 on the season.
UNW got on the board early, as
Annie Ellis (Farmington, Minn. /Farmington) sank the team's first goal of the game. UD put forth their best efforts, but Northwestern's strong attack made for nine more goals, which helped the team boost a 13-5 lead at intermission.
Though Dallas composed a stellar second period of play, Northwestern never lost the lead, which resulted in a 19-11 triumph over the home team.
Hannah Shands (Hugo, Minn./Mahtomedi) put together a solid performance on the mid-day match, as the sophomore attacker led the pack with six goals, eight shots, two ground balls, 12 draw controls, and went 3-4 on free position shots. Following suit,
Talia Sherry (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) added an impressive five goals towards the Eagles success, while also concluding with two assists.
Jordyn Broberg (Mahtomedi, Minn./Montomedi) and Ellis also closed in strong standings, as they each recorded two goals apiece, respectively.
Northwestern ended the contest with a grand total of 44 shots [34 SOG], 20 ground balls, 23 draw controls, and went 22-28 on clears.
