Northwestern Shuts Down Dubuque Saturday

ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern women's lacrosse team topped the University of Dubuque [4-1] 15-10 Saturday afternoon behind a dominant offensive effort against the undefeated visiting competitors. With the win, the Eagles rise to 5-1 on the season.

Getting off to a good start, UNW was able to front a 4-1 lead by the 15:00 mark of the match. Continuing to battle throughout the remainder of the first, Northwestern limited Dubuque to only two more goals, while they tapped in three to boost a 7-4 advantage at intermission.

Taking on the second frame, the Spartans went on a run to tie the game 8-8 with 15:16 left in regulation. As the ticker winded down, UNW forced a strong attack to add seven more goals to the scoreboard – outshining UD's two  –  to capture a 15-10 victory over the unblemished team.

Talia Sherry (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) had an outstanding performance on the contest, finishing with five goals, while also contributing two assists. Hannah Shands (Hugo, Minn./Mahtomedi) also put together a strong showing, wrapping up the match with four goals, while Eugenia Chamberlain (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) concluded with two and three assists. Grace Daggett (Hastings, Minn./Hastings) and Annie Ellis (Farmington, Minn. /Farmington) each added to the Eagles success, sinking one goal apiece, respectively.
