UNW Secures Big Win At Elmhurst

ELMHURST, ILL. – The University of Northwestern women's lacrosse team notched a dominant 14-1 victory over Elmhurst College [0-4 overall] Saturday afternoon in Illinois. Improving their win streak to five, the Eagles advance to 6-1 on the season.

UNW took control of the first 30:00 frame, producing a fierce, offensive front to surpass the home team with an 8-1 lead at the intermission break.

Throughout the second period of play, Northwestern held Elmhurst to a scoreless half, as they knocked in six more goals to seal a 14-1 victory on the day's competition.

Hannah Shands (Hugo, Minn./Mahtomedi) put together an outstanding performance, as the sophomore midfielder led the pack with four goals on the afternoon success. Shands also tallied two assists, scooped five ground balls, won eight draw controls, added two caused turnovers, and went 1-1 on free position shots.

Annie Ellis (Farmington, Minn. /Farmington) and Eugenia Chamberlain (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) also had strong showings on the mid-day contest, as they each tapped in two goals apiece, while Chamberlain added two assists. Six other Eagles recorded goals on the match, as Sydney Troll (Grimes, Iowa/Des Moines Christian) and Kesenya Havlicek (New Prague, Minn./New Prague) secured their first on the season.

As a team, the purple and gold ended the game with a grand total 30 shots [24 SOG], 23 ground balls, 12 draw controls, 14 caused turnovers, and went 13-15 on clears.
