GEORGETOWN, TEX. – In Tuesday's mid-day contest in Georgetown, Tex., the University of Northwestern women's lacrosse team captured a 13-6 victory over Beloit College [1-2], advancing to a program-best record of 3-1 on the season.
UNW controlled the tempo early, as the team's offensive line put together an outstanding effort, powering through blue and yellow defense to front a 5-2 lead over BC at intermission.
Continuing their threatening attack, the Eagles went on to drop eight more goals on the game, outscoring the Buccaneers by four more goals, to secure the 13-6 victory.
Hannah Shands (Hugo, Minn./Mahtomedi) logged an impressive performance on the day's competition, as the offensive powerhouse buried five goals for the purple and gold, while teammate
Talia Sherry (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) netted four.
Annie Ellis (Farmington, Minn. /Farmington) also had a strong showing on the match, as she added two goals to the scoreboard.
Jordyn Broberg (Mahtomedi, Minn./Montomedi) and
Eugenia Chamberlain (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) noted one apiece, respectively.
Northwestern ended the contest with a grand total of 33 shots [23 SOG], 28 ground balls, 16 draw controls, and went 13-20 on clears.
