Osborn Homers in UNW’s Loss to Bethel

ST. PAUL – The University of Northwestern Eagles fell to the Bethel Royals on Thursday 12-2 at Reynolds Field.  The Eagles dropped to 7-12 on the season, while the visiting Royals improved to 15-4.

The Eagles jumped to an early lead in the first inning when Tyler Osborn (Clive, Iowa/Des Moines Christian) was hit by a pitch, moved to second on Ryan Sutterer (Anoka, Minn./Anoka )'s single to left, stole third, and then scored on Brett Reinhart (Chanhassen, Minn./Southwest Christian)'s two-out single.

Micah Williams (Gulfport, Miss. /Christian Collegiate Academy) did not give up a hit in the first two innings, but then walked three batters in the top of the third before surrounding a grand slam.

Henry Waage (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria) came on to pitch for the Eagles and gave up five runs over two innings of work.  Nick Pilz (Stacy, Minn./North Branch) followed and pitched well the next two frames before Jake Franzen finished it off.

Tyler Osborn (Clive, Iowa/Des Moines Christian) was the offensive star for the Eagles as he hit a double and provided the second Eagle run via an eighth Inning home run. It was Osborn's team-leading seventh home run on the year.

The Eagles next games are on Tuesday at Reynolds Field against St. Olaf. First pitch in game one is set for 5 p.m. Fans can find more information on the baseball program at www.unweagles.com.
