Abbie Nelson (Holdrege, Neb./Holdrege)'s gem in the circle, the University of Northwestern softball team earned a split at Macalester College Tuesday evening. The Eagles move to 4-10 on the season.
Game One
In a pitchers dual, Northwestern pushed the lone run of the game across in the top of the third to secure the win.
Abbie Nelson (Holdrege, Neb./Holdrege) was lights out, as the freshman went the distance, not allowing a run and striking out three.
Mindy Forcier (Watkins, Minn./Eden Valley-Watkins) put the Eagles on the board after she singled, advanced to second on
Ciara Scheithauer (Rib Lake, Wis./Rib Lake)'s sacrifice bunt, stole third and then scored on a Macalester throwing error.
Megan Threlkeld (Burnsville, Minn./Burnsville) recorded the other base knock for UNW.
Game Two
Sydney Iedema (Archer, Iowa/Sheldon) generated the Eagles' only hit at the plate in game two, as Sophie Migacz threw a complete-game shutout.
Lauren Silbernick (Osakis, Minn./Osakis) went toe-for-toe with the Scots' ace, as she allowed just one run on eight hits in six innings of work.
