ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Northwestern women's lacrosse team cruised to a 12-2 victory over Carroll University [1-6 overall] Saturday afternoon at Reynolds Field. Improving their win streak to seven, the Eagles advance to 8-1 on the season.
UNW outshined CU in the first 30:00 frame, holding the visiting team to a scoreless half to take a 10-0 lead at the intermission break.
Throughout the second period of play, Northwestern and Carroll tapped in two goals apiece, but it was the Eagles who came out on top to seal the 12-2 win on the mid-day match.
Talia Sherry (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) made quite the impression on the contest, burying four goals for the Eagles, while also noting one assist.
Hannah Shands (Hugo, Minn./Mahtomedi) also had a strong showing, netting three goals on the afternoon battle, while teammate
Eugenia Chamberlain (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) knocked in two. Chamberlain also scooped a career-high 13 ground balls, as Sherry and Shands each shoveled three, respectively.
As a team, the purple and gold recorded a grand total 31 shots [21 SOG], 32 ground balls, 12 draw controls, and went 14-15 on clears.
