DUBUQUE, IOWA. – The University of Northwestern women's lacrosse team secured a 15-7 road victory over Clarke University Saturday afternoon in Dubuque, Iowa. With the win, UNW stretches its win streak to eight and improves to 9-1 on the season.
Throughout the first 30:00 frame, six Eagles joined forces to collect eight goals on the half, helping the purple and gold take a 8-3 lead into the locker room at the intermission break.
Composing a stellar second period of play, Northwestern went on to outscore Clarke 7-4 to seal a 15-7 win on the mid-day battle.
Eugenia Chamberlain (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) put together an impressive performance on the day's competition, finishing with three goals, two assists, seven grounders, two caused turnovers, and seven draw controls.
Hannah Shands (Hugo, Minn./Mahtomedi) and
Talia Sherry (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) also had a strong showing on the game, sinking three goals apiece, while
Annie Ellis (Farmington, Minn./Farmington) and
Jordyn Broberg (Mahtomedi, Minn./Montomedi) each sank two. Shands also managed to record one assist and three draw controls, while Sherry scooped one ground ball and had one caused turnover.
Grace Daggett (Hastings, Minn./Hastings) and
Jodi Bertrand (Little Falls, Minn./Little Falls) dropped one goal on the contest, respectively.
As a team, the Eagles totaled 42 shots, 31 shots on goal, 18 ground balls, 14 draw controls, and went 11-11 on clears.
