WHITEWATER, Wis. – The University of Northwestern men's basketball team is set to take on the No. 22 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks Friday in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Tip-off inside Kachel Gymnasium is set for 7:30 p.m. The winner of Friday's game will take on the winner of the University of St. Thomas and Augustana College contest Saturday at 7 p.m.

UNW (20-7) is making its seventh-straight NCAA Tournament appearance after defeating the College of St. Scholastica in dramatic fashion in Saturday's Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament Championship. The Eagles reached the 20-win plateau for the ninth time under the direction of head coach
Tim Grosz. Friday's meeting will be the third time the Eagles and Warhawks have met in the NCAA Tournament.
UWW (21-6) received an at-large bid after tying for second in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) regular season standings. The Warhawks were eliminated by UW-Oshkosh in the WIAC Tournament semifinals. UW-Whitewater has won four National Championships, most recently in 2014.
