ST. PAUL, MINN – The University of Northwestern women's lacrosse team [1-1] hosted Colorado College [2-0] Saturday evening at the Concordia-St. Paul Dome. The Eagles dropped the aggressive challenge 22-3.
The visiting team got on the board early, as they netted the opening two goals. Then, fighting through Colorado defense,
Eugenia Chamberlain (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) sank the team's first to raise the score 1-3. Throughout the remaining of the first half, the Tigers went on to add 12 more goals to front a 15-1 lead heading into intermission.
In what was a testing second period, CC's offense became too overpowering for UNW to halt. With strong stick-handling abilities and a threatening attack, Colorado went on to tab seven more goals on the contest, claiming a 22-3 road victory.
Northwestern's
Jordyn Broberg (Mahtomedi, Minn./Montomedi) led the purple and gold, as the sophomore standout marked two goals to conclude the game, while Chamberlain added one. As a collective group, the Eagles totaled eight shots, 10 ground balls, eight draw controls, and went 6-12 on clears.
UNW will travel next to Dubuque, Iowa., where the team will battle Loras College on Saturday, March 4. Draw time is slated for 3 p.m. For more information, fans came visit unweagles.com.
