It will be the second-straight year the two foes have met with a trip to the NCAA Tournament on the line after UNW defeated CSS 93-70 in last year's tournament final in Duluth. The two teams split during the regular season, with each squad winning on its home floor.
Northwestern's veteran lineup includes a starting five of all seniors – a group that will be making its fourth consecutive appearance in the UMAC title game.
Porter Morrell (Elk River, Minn./Home School) has had an impressive senior season, as the Elk River native is shooting the ball at a career-best clip while averaging over 15 points per game.
Will Gisler (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville) is just behind Morrell, as he is pouring in 14.4 points per game, while
Cody Sprenger (Grey Eagle, Minn./Long Prairie-Grey Eagle) is at 12.4 points per game.
Peter Maring (Harris, Minn./Cambridge Christian) has had a strong second half of the season and is averaging nine points per game and a team-best 7.8 rebounds.
The Saints have won 12 of their last 14 games, including a dominant win over Bethany Lutheran in the semis Wednesday night in Mankato. CSS has a trio of players averaging double figures, with Brandon Newman's 16.2 points per game leading the pack. The sophomore earned UMAC Freshman of the Year honors last season and has put together a strong sophomore campaign.
