ST. PAUL – The University of Northwestern men's basketball team held visiting North Central University (5-11, 3-8) to just 16 points in the first half en route to picking up a dominant 81-53 victory over the Rams. The Eagles better their season tally to 14-5 overall and 10-1 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play.
Northwestern held North Central to a 35.5 shooting percentage from the floor and a 25 percent mark from downtown. UNW was equally impressive on the offensive end, as the Eagles shot a blistering 54 percent from the floor and 40 percent from long range.
Porter Morrell (Elk River, Minn./Home School) continues his offensive terror, as the senior poured in a team-high 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting.
Peter Maring (Harris, Minn./Cambridge Christian) had a strong night, as he racked up a double-double with his 14 points and 11 boards, while
Cody Sprenger (Grey Eagle, Minn./Long Prairie-Grey Eagle) finished 7-of-11 from the floor to finish with 18 points.
