ST. PAUL – The University of Northwestern men's tennis team showed its grit Saturday, battling the College of St. Scholastica in the regular season finale. UNW dropped the match, 6-3, to visiting CSS.

In doubles play,
Joshua Kimball (Waseca, Minn./Waseca) and
Cameron Fair (Sterling, Kan./Sterling) paired up to earn UNW a point at No. 3 doubles, securing an 8-6 win.
Landon Ridpath (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech ) and
Derek Williams (Zimmerman, Minn./Elk River) showed toughness at No. 2 doubles, but came out on the wrong end of an 8-6 match.
Brett Jacobus (Lakeville, Minn. /Lakeville North) was a winner at No. 2 singles, earning a 6-3, 6-2 hard-fought win.
Joshua Kimball (Waseca, Minn./Waseca) notched UNW's third win of the day, taking the No. 5 singles marathon match with a 10-8 win in the tiebreaker.
Derek Williams (Zimmerman, Minn./Elk River) fell in the tiebreaker (10-7) at No. 4 singles.
UNW will be the No. 2 seed heading into next weekend's UMAC Tournament. The two-day event will take place at the Baseline Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
