The Eagles opened the day against the Vikings of Bethany Lutheran College (9-0) with a clean sweep. Karen Moe (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South ) took care of No. 1 singles (6-0, 6-1) with ease. Just Nikki Edin (Staples, Minn./Staples-Motley) managed a perfect match (6-0, 6-0), claiming the victory in No. 6 singles. Northwestern swept doubles play as well, as Edin continued her spotless event (8-0) with partner Rachel Bostrom (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) in No. 3 doubles. Tina Matetich (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) and Jessica Henke (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) grabbed No. 2 doubles (8-2), while Moe and Brooke Lapinski (Chanhassen, Minn./Chanhassen) notched the victory (8-1) in the No. 1 match.

Northwestern returned to action later in the day, taking on the Martin Luther College Knights (9-0) in yet another sweep on the purple courts. Moe kept her scorecard spotless (6-0) in No. 1 singles, while Henke took No. 2 singles (6-1, 6-2) by a wide margin. Emily Knight (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge) picked up the victory in No. 5 singles (6-1, 6-1) and Bostrom finished off No. 6 singles (6-0, 6-2) to keep things perfect. The Eagles again dominated in doubles play, with Bostrom and Knight (8-2) having the worst showing of the three Northwestern pairings in a convincing win. Both the pairings of Moe and Lapinski and Matetich and Henke ended doubles play (8-1) at full strength.

The Eagles will be head up the road to take on Bethel University on Monday, April 18, at 4 p.m. UMAC play will resume at the University of Minnesota-Morris on Thursday, April 21.
