WACONIA, Minn. – Less than 24 hours after sweeping Crown College, the University of Northwestern baseball team rallied to score four runs in the final two innings to defeat the Storm 5-4 at Lions Field Wednesday.
UNW improves to 9-14 overall, while Crown drops to 7-10.
Crown held a 4-1 lead heading into the seventh inning, but a three-run eighth for the Eagles tied the score at 4-4.
Nathan Ehnstrom (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin) drilled a RBI single and
Tucker Morrell (Elk River, Minn./Homeschool) delivered a sacrifice fly to highlight the frame.
In the top of the ninth,
Tyler Osborn (Clive, Iowa/Des Moines Christian) came around to score what would be the game-winning run on a
Bradley Spencer (Papillion, NE/Papillion South) RBI single before
Nathan Ehnstrom (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin) put the final touches on his lights out performance on the mound to close the door on the Storm.
Aaron Rau (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge) posted a multi-hit performance at the plate, as the catcher finished 2-for-4, while also scoring a run.
Ehnstrom picked up the win on the hill, as the sophomore allowed just three hits and no runs in three innings of relief work. The right-hander fanned three, while not issuing a walk.
The Eagles will stay on the road this weekend to face North Central University in a conference doubleheader. First pitch in game one in Coon Rapids is set for 12 p.m.
