DULUTH, Minn. – The University of Northwestern women's basketball team ended its regular season on a high note, defeating the College of St. Scholastica 60-54 on Saturday evening inside Reif Gymnasium. The Eagles finish the regular season 20-5 overall and 14-2 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play.
The Eagles overcame an 11-point deficit in the second half en route to picking up their 20
th win of the season. It is the second time under the direction of head coach
Aaron Kahl (6
th Year) that the Eagles have reached the 20-win milestone.
Amy Berglund (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Eagles. She finished 8-of-12 from the field and also grabbed seven boards.
Regan Cooper (Pella, Iowa/Pella) (12) and
Jessica Cole (Altoona, Iowa/Southeast Polk) (10) also hit double figures. Cooper finished 8-of-9 from the charity stripe.
UNW shot 42 from the floor, while CSS ended the night at 32.7 percent from the floor. The Eagles dominated the paint, outscoring the Saints 30-16 down low.
The Eagles have secured the No. 2 seed in the UMAC Tournament and will host Bethany Lutheran College on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. Fans can find more information on the upcoming tournament at
